From October 24th to November 6th, we had the honor of organizing the 6th edition of the Euro Film Festival Malawi, held in collaboration with the EU Delegation to Malawi and the Goethe Institut. This year marked the fifth time our team had the privilege of delivering this exciting cultural event, showcasing a vibrant mix of European, African, and Malawian films to a diverse audience.
The festival kicked off with a cocktail launch at the EU Residence in Lilongwe, where guests enjoyed a magical evening with a garden cinema under the stars. The opening night featured a curated selection of films that set the tone for the rest of the festival.
The festival continued with a series of events across different locations, bringing the power of cinema to a wide range of audiences. Highlights included two screenings at the Crossroads Hotel Auditorium, one at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, in partnership with the Tumaini Festival, and another at the Catholic University in Blantyre, where we worked with Lazarus Chigwandali and Esau from the Very Best Band to present thought-provoking documentaries and engaging films.
Throughout the festival, around 1,000 movie enthusiasts joined us for the screenings, engaging in lively discussions and appreciating the rich diversity of stories shared through film. The Euro Film Festival not only celebrated global cinema but also fostered connections between local and international filmmakers and audiences, enhancing the cultural exchange between Europe, Africa, and Malawi.
We are incredibly proud to have been a part of this prestigious event, and we look forward to continuing to bring inspiring and entertaining films to Malawi’s vibrant movie-loving community.
