On November 30th, we embarked on a unique initiative that repurposed festival stages into school desks for local communities in need. This project, made possible through the generous support of our partners—Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Embassy of Iceland, the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland, African Parks, and Fish Eagle Bay Lodge—aimed to address the pressing desk shortages in Malawian schools.
We successfully produced and donated approximately 100 desks to Kayadzi Primary School and Chinkhwamba Primary School, helping meet 25% of their total desk needs. This initiative not only provided essential furniture for the students but also highlighted the power of creative collaboration to support education in local communities.
In addition to the desks, Sunny Money contributed solar lights to support the schools’ library initiatives, further enhancing the learning environment and ensuring that students have the resources they need to succeed.
The “Stages into School Desks” project stands as a reminder of the long-lasting impact that festivals and partnerships can have on local communities, helping create better learning spaces and brighter futures for young Malawians.
